Use the same revenue assumptions
Begin with the same starting revenue and client-retention assumptions for every option. List which revenue is eligible for each payout calculation. A gross payout percentage is not take-home income and may exclude certain business.
Separate recurring income from temporary support
Deduct platform charges, staffing, benefits, office costs, insurance, technology, and other expenses the advisor will pay. Show any transition support separately. Ask whether it is a loan, bonus, reimbursement, or contingent payment, and when repayment or forfeiture can occur.
Put downside cases in writing
Model a slower move, lower retention, and an early departure. Check interest, tax timing, clawbacks, and termination clauses with independent professionals. The calculator on this site is a simplified illustration, not an offer or a prediction of income.
